Why it matters: efficiency measures help compare quarterbacks with unequal game totals. Passing yards and touchdowns remain volume stats. This panel does not include rushing, supporting cast, opponent strength, injuries or playoff performance. A selected-group lead does not establish the best quarterback overall.

*2026 is in progress. Five individual appearances are listed in the retrieved sources. All figures above are regular-season totals; no missing games have been estimated.

01

A cleaner pocket

Sacks fell from 68 in 2024 to 24 in 2025. That is 44 fewer sacks over the same number of games. Protection and offensive structure matter alongside the quarterback’s own decisions.

02

More production, same poise

Passing touchdowns rose from 20 to 27 in year two, while interceptions increased by only one. He added 401 passing yards and set a new Chicago single-season record.

03

Efficiency is the next frontier

The early 2026 snapshot shows 8.0 yards per attempt and a 104.6 rating. Those are encouraging gains, but five appearances are too small a sample to declare the work finished.

SIGNATURE PLAYS / CLUTCH WHEN IT COUNTS

Two throws. One fearless quarterback.

The game-winning strike to DJ Moore against Green Bay. The improbable touchdown to Cole Kmet that forced overtime against Los Angeles. Relive both moments through the official NFL YouTube channel.

VS GREEN BAY / OVERTIME WINNER

The overtime dagger.

Williams finds DJ Moore for a 46-yard touchdown to beat the Packers in overtime. A rivalry game, a sudden-death moment, and the confidence to attack downfield.

WHY IT STANDS OUT

The big-play mindset: rather than simply extending the drive, Williams delivers the explosive finish that ends the game.

VS LOS ANGELES / PLAYOFF EQUALIZER

The throw that refused to quit.

With the Rams playoff game on the line, Williams escapes pressure and finds Cole Kmet for the late touchdown that ties the game and sends it to overtime.

WHY IT STANDS OUT

The second-reaction creativity: Williams keeps the play alive under pressure and gives his receiver a chance when the original play breaks down. A remarkable equalizer—not a game-winning touchdown.

More than the highlight reel.

The strongest case for Caleb is the combination: improvisational ability, low interception totals, a franchise passing record in year two, and late-game resilience. The next test is consistency. His 58.1% completion rate in 2025 is a reminder that an exciting young quarterback can still have room to grow.
